Couvent des Jacobins is a historic wine estate based in the center of Saint-Emilion town, on Bordeaux's so-called "right bank", northeast of the Dordogne river. The estate has been a Grand Cru Classé since 1969. The vineyard spans 10.7 hectares (26 acres) . It is planted to the classic regional combination of Merlot and Cabernet Franc (Merlot dominates at around 85 percent with just over 10 percent Cabernet) and also boasts a small percentage of Petit Verdot (roughly four percent), planted in 2010. The estate takes its name from the order of Friars and preachers that were responsible for the Dominican monastery, Freres Precheurs Jacobin. The current owner of the estate is Rose Noelle Brode, who is also a direct descendant of the estate's founder, Jean Jean.
