FEATURES
Philippe and Vincent Lecheneaut are consistently producing increasingly impressive wines from their family domaine in Nuits-Saint-Georges. The 2017 vintage in Burgundy was generally very good, with vines showing recovery after the challenging 2016 growing season. The "Les Damodes" vineyard is located in the northern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, bordering the premier cru appellations of Vosne-Romanée. Legend has it that fairies once inhabited the rocky hillside from which the vineyard takes its name, derived from "Dame" meaning lady.
This wine presents a deep ruby color. The nose is intensive, offering dark cherry fruit, forest floor, and a subtle exotic touch. Expect spicy notes of clove, nutmeg, black cherry, and toasty undertones. On the palate, it is ample, combining cherry and liquorice aromas with silky tannins and an impressively fresh finish. It is an elegant red with a good structure, revealing flavors of cherry, raspberry, iron, and spice. Professional reviews also note subtle reduction, skillful oak integration, layered textures, granular tannins, and a fresh finish. Some tasters find light, wild strawberry and cranberry fruit.
Food pairing recommendations include duck, goose, and game birds, as well as roasted leg of mutton, entrecôte with shallots, and mature cheeses.
Currently, this wine is in a very good drinking window, with potential for further development. It was advised not to drink before 2022, indicating its need for some aging. It is perfectly suited for a sophisticated dinner, a special celebration, or for cellaring to appreciate its evolving complexity. 【An elegant Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru with significant aging potential, showcasing dark cherry, spice, and silky tannins.】
