FEATURES
🏰 The 1998 Chateau Cos d'Estournel is a 【complex and elegantly matured Bordeaux】, magnificently showcasing the Saint-Estephe terroir with a firm structure gracefully softened by time and a captivating mélange of tertiary flavors. While the 1998 Bordeaux vintage saw the Right Bank as the star, Left Bank wines like Cos d'Estournel have opened up beautifully with age, offering significant highs for collectors. The growing season was dry, sunny, and warm-to-hot, resulting in small, thick-skinned berries. This dark ruby/purple wine, with a garnet rim, distinctly reveals over two decades of maturation. The nose offers subtle notes of sweet oak, licorice, herbs, black fruits, truffle, forest floor, cigar box, blackberries, tobacco, dates, figs, and spices. The palate is medium-bodied, ripe, and graceful, with supple, velvety tannins, persistent blackcurrant and plum notes, and a long, earthy finish.
🍴 This mature Bordeaux pairs exceptionally well with roasted red meats, rich game dishes, hearty stews, and a selection of strong, aged cheeses.
🥂 Ideal for a celebratory dinner, a serious wine tasting, or a thoughtful gift for a discerning collector. For older wines, expect some sediment. Decant carefully to separate the wine from any deposits. Ensure the cork is in good condition before opening, and consider using an Ah-So opener for fragile corks. A decant of 1-2 hours is recommended to allow the wine to fully express its tertiary aromas. Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
