FEATURES
The 2019 Burgundy vintage is widely acclaimed as truly excellent, with some even calling it legendary. Despite low yields caused by spring frost and uneven flowering, the grapes achieved perfect health and a superb balance of sugars and acidity. Red wines from this vintage are noted for their complexity, rich fruit-forward character, and refined structure, displaying excellent terroir typicity. Many consider 2019 to be among the most compelling red Burgundy vintages of the millennium. Confuron-Cotetidot is renowned for its distinctive winemaking approach, employing 100% whole-cluster fermentation across all its cuvées, late harvesting to ensure fully ripe stems, and extended maceration periods. The estate itself has a rich history, established in 1964 through the marriage of Jack Confuron and Bernadette Cotetidot. Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is a substantial vineyard, spanning 50 hectares, characterized by its diverse soil composition of clay and limestone. Confuron-Cotetidot's parcel within Clos de Vougeot is situated towards the bottom of the slope.

**Tasting Notes:** This wine typically presents a magnificent deep ruby colour. The bouquet is beautifully defined and precise, offering intense aromas of blackberry, raspberry, incense, and crushed stone. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with supple tannins and perfectly pitched acidity, leading to a structured finish with good grip and a hint of black pepper. Expect an ample mouthfeel with powerful tannins, complemented by notes of black cherry and chocolate, culminating in a persistent length. Some tasters also note a mixture of red and black fruit, cedar, and tobacco, which opens up beautifully with aeration, revealing succulent fleshy red fruit laced with orange rind, brown spices, and a touch of truffle.
**Food Pairing:** This powerful red Burgundy is an ideal match for robust dishes such as game, rib-eye steak, roasted lamb, or veal with morels. It also pairs exceptionally well with a selection of mature cheeses. Consider roasted duck with a rich cherry sauce or a hearty beef Wellington to complement its depth and structure.
**Fit to Event:** This is an impressive wine suitable for a formal dinner, a significant celebratory gathering, or any special occasion where a powerful and age-worthy red Burgundy is desired. It offers excellent potential for cellaring and future enjoyment, but can also be approached now with appropriate decanting.
