FEATURES
The 2024 Pierre Girardin Chardonnay Les Saugettes, though a very recent vintage, is already showing promising characteristics. This white wine, classified as Vin de France but originating from a small plot in Grusse in the Jura, is crafted by Pierre-Vincent Girardin, the 13th generation of a winemaking family based in Meursault. The estate is known for its philosophy of respecting the living world and precise winemaking.
【A Jura Chardonnay with mineral tension and Burgundian elegance】 The wine presents a clear and brilliant pale yellow hue. On the nose, it offers a complex bouquet of candied citrus, fresh butter, and sweet spices, with a well-controlled reduction reminiscent of the Meursault style, enriched by notes of white pepper and a strong mineral and floral backbone. The palate is taut and sappy, with a vibrant structure, great savouriness, and precise balance, leading to a mouthwatering, persistent finish. Some early tasters note popcorn, sesame, flint, and lemon with medium-plus acidity, describing it as a Burgundian Jura style.
🍴 This elegant white wine pairs perfectly with haute gastronomy dishes, such as lobster medallion served with a savagnin sabayon, fine oven-baked fish, shellfish, and seafood dishes with creamy sauces. Consider pairing it with chicken or turkey.
🥂 This wine is suitable for special celebratory dinners, sophisticated gatherings, or as a thoughtful gift for a wine connoisseur. It can be enjoyed now, but also has the potential to evolve favorably until around 2038. Serve it at 11-12°C, and decant for about 45 minutes when young.
