The 2024 Wongamat by Jan Raumland Kriegsheimer Rosengarten Spätburgunder is a red wine from Rheinhessen, Germany, crafted from Pinot Noir grapes grown in the warmer, south-facing Kriegsheimer Rosengarten vineyard with loess, loam, gravel, and iron-rich soils. As a very young vintage, still in its nascent stages, information is emerging, with some sources noting it was tasted from barrel samples or recently bottled as of early 2026. This Spätburgunder is described as finely structured and powerful, showcasing precision and presence. On the nose, it offers depth and spice, with red and dark fruit, complemented by a fine sweetness and hints of licorice. The palate is fresh and elegant, featuring subtle wood spice that provides structure without being overpowering, maintaining excellent balance. The finish is long, lively, and surprisingly light-footed for a wine from such a warm site. 【A finely structured, powerful Spätburgunder whose precision and presence distinguish the warmer Rosengarten site.】
Food pairing suggestions: This elegant Pinot Noir would beautifully complement roasted duck breast with cherry reduction, pan-seared salmon, or mushroom risotto. For Asian cuisine, consider Peking duck or a delicate Korean beef bulgogi.
Event suggestions: Perfect for an intimate dinner party, a sophisticated tasting event focused on German Pinot Noir, or as a thoughtful gift for a wine enthusiast keen on discovering emerging vintages.
