🏰 Château Rayas is legendary in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, known for its unique sandy terroir and a distinctive, ethereal style of Grenache that often transcends the appellation's typical dark and brooding character. The 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape Réserve, made from 100% Grenache, is described as brilliant red with ripe red berries, potpourri, floral, and allspice qualities on the nose. On the palate, it offers juicy raspberry and bitter cherry flavors with excellent precision. The 2013 vintage, while perhaps not the most powerful, produced wines of elegance and freshness, which aligns perfectly with Rayas's signature style. 【The singular, ethereal expression of Grenache from Châteauneuf-du-Pape's most iconic and unique terroir.】
🍴 Rayas is best served with classic meat dishes such as veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, and game. Think roasted, braised, or stewed preparations, sausages, or cassoulet. Its delicate yet complex profile also pairs well with dishes featuring truffles or mature cheeses.
🥂 This highly collectible wine is ideal for a truly special occasion, a milestone celebration, or a serious tasting among Rhône enthusiasts. Its unique character and aging potential make it a profound experience to share with discerning guests.
BACKGROUND
Château Rayas is a leading producer in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation of the Rhône Valley, France. It is one of the region's most prestigious estates, and its wines fetch some of the highest prices in southern France. The estate covers 22 hectares, with 15 hectares dedicated to vineyards. Most of their vines are planted to Grenache. The estate's red wine is made solely from Grenache. The château's white Châteauneuf-du-Pape is generally made from Grenache Blanc and Clairette in roughly equaly proportions. Château Rayas has been in the Reynaud family since the 1880s.
