De L'arlot, Nuits Saint Georges Clos De L'arlot Rouge 1er Cru, 2022
The 2022 Domaine de l'Arlot Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru 'Clos de l'Arlot' Rouge is the historic flagship monopole of the domaine, sourced from an amphitheater-shaped vineyard with very old vines. This vintage, from biodynamically grown grapes, is still very youthful but shows sophistication with subtle sour cherry and red berry aromas, hints of summer flowers and blood oranges. On the palate, it is compact, concentrated, and elegant with a medium body, offering black plum and raspberry fruit, gentle grip, and hints of allspice and licorice. It has excellent drive in its long, sleek, and stony finish. While drinkable now, it is best from 2025 or 2026, with a drinking window extending to 2048, suggesting it will benefit from three to five years in bottle.
🍴 Food Pairing: This elegant Pinot Noir would be an excellent match for roasted duck, game birds, mushroom-based dishes, or fine cheeses. Its red fruit and earthy notes will complement rich, savoury flavours.
🥂 Fit for Event: This 1er Cru is perfect for a sophisticated dinner party, a special celebration, or as a thoughtful gift for a Burgundy enthusiast. Its ageing potential also makes it a great addition to a serious wine cellar.

BACKGROUND
Domaine de l'Arlot is a Burgundy producer based in the Côte de Nuits, famous for its Pinot Noir from select vineyard appellations. It has vines in several prestigious vineyards, including two top monopole vineyards - Clos de Forets Saint-Georges and Clos de l'Arlot. The l'Arlot vineyard was founded in the 18th century when the owners of the estate built walls. Domaine de l'Arlot was expanded in 1891 after being acquired by wine merchant Jules Belin. Pinot Noir is the dominant variety in most of the estate's vineyards, with a small amount of Chardonnay also produced, including a rare variety from Clos de l'Arlot.
