FEATURES
The 2015 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc is considered a perfect wine, matching the otherworldly 2009 vintage, and is certainly one of the greatest whites ever made from this esteemed estate. It exhibits a huge, opulent bouquet of buttered citrus, flower oil, orange marmalade, quince, and honeysuckle. This majestic, full-bodied Hermitage Blanc boasts a huge mid-palate, thrilling purity of fruit, and an incredibly long finish, capable of lasting for 4-5 decades. Josh Raynolds of Vinous gave it 97 points, describing an intensely perfumed, powerful bouquet evoking fresh pear, peach nectar, anise, iodine, and candied ginger, with a smoky mineral quality. On the palate, it's sappy, seamless, and incisive, offering intense orchard and pit fruit and honeysuckle flavors lifted by a core of dusty minerality and a bitter jolt of orange pith, with superb tenacity on the mineral-driven finish. The 2015 vintage was wonderful in the Rhone, and this wine, mostly Marsanne, shows great depth and should develop layering with maturity, easily lasting a decade or more. 【 A perfect wine, considered one of the greatest white Hermitage ever made, with immense aging potential 】.
Serving Advice: For a wine of this age (2015), it's advisable to handle it with care. While not extremely old, a gentle decanting for 30-60 minutes can help it open up and express its complex aromas and flavors, especially given its full-bodied nature and potential for development. Ensure the bottle is stored properly and check the cork carefully upon opening.
Food Pairing: This wine demands heavier foods to pair with and has the stuffing for most substantial dishes. It pairs well with chicken and turkey. Consider rich poultry dishes, roasted pork, or creamy seafood preparations to complement its opulent character.
Event Suggestions: This is an exceptional wine for a milestone celebration, a serious wine tasting, or a luxurious dinner where the wine is the star. Its longevity also makes it a superb gift for a collector or for marking a significant anniversary.
