The 2013 Salon Blanc de Blancs Champagne is the 44th release in Salon's nearly 120-year history, coming from a unique vintage described as an "outlier year that defied all odds." After a cold, wet winter and spring, a hot, dry summer with record sunshine in July and August, followed by a September with warm, dry, sunny days, brought the Chardonnay grapes to good alcoholic content and excellent acidity. This 100% Chardonnay, exclusively from Grand Cru Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, spends an average of 10 years on its lees, contributing to its refined mousse and layered flavors. It exhibits a pale gold hue with fine, persistent bubbles, offering aromas of waxed lemons, chamomile, hazelnuts, sourdough, mango stones, and hints of orange curd. The palate is linear and precise, showcasing flavors of lemon confit, marzipan, white flowers, and mint, with vibrant acidity and chalky minerality leading to a long, textured finish. 【 Antonio Galloni rated it a "magnificent" 99 points, calling it the "most powerful, dense young Salon [he had] ever tasted" 】.
