The 2024 Pierre Gonon Saint Joseph Les Oliviers is a very young vintage, described as a "middleweight vintage" for this cuvée with good acidity and a mineral edge. Early indications suggest a bright and floral style, emphasizing freshness and vibrancy. While still a work in progress and quite reduced in its nascent stage, it shows promising, classically styled Gonon characteristics, hinting at significant potential for future development.

Tasting Notes: Expect lovely fresh, bright aromas with vibrant notes of honeysuckle. It's a light- to medium-bodied wine with gentle, fine tannins and a bay leaf finish, highlighting exuberant blackberries, liquorice, hibiscus, and violets. Early barrel samples revealed brambly blackberries, sweet boysenberries, peppery tones, a savory meatiness, sour cherries, an inky character, and a touch of smoky reduction, with a wild and lifted nose.
Food pairing suggestions: Given its freshness and vibrant character, this wine would pair well with lighter poultry dishes like chicken or turkey, and various seafood preparations.
Event suggestions: As a very young wine, it's an intriguing choice for those who appreciate tasting a vintage in its early stages to observe its evolution. It's suitable for casual gatherings or as an aperitif, but will undoubtedly benefit from further aging to reveal its full complexity.
