FEATURES
The 2016 Jean Michel Gerin Côte-Rôtie Les Grandes Places is a powerful and pure Syrah from old vines, planted between 1924 and 1960, in the northern part of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. This vintage is noted for its super fragrant black stones and black pepper, with a very spicy array of black fruit and hints of mocha, derived from 100% new barriques. It possesses a super powerful core of tannin, built from the inside out, with compelling small-berry power that favors skin over juice, yielding intense black fruit and a schist spark on the finish. The wine is described as pure, complete, and wildly powerful, with a recommendation for best enjoyment from 2024 onwards. Tasting notes often highlight black cherry, blackberry, leather, smoke, mineral, oak, chocolate, vanilla, pepper, thyme, and licorice.
🍴 Food Pairing: This Northern Rhône Côte-Rôtie wine is an excellent match for beef, lamb, poultry, and game (such as deer or venison). It also pairs well with cured cheeses, foie gras, hamburgers, white meats, and charcuterie.
🥂 Event Suggestions: An ideal wine for a sophisticated dinner, especially when serving roasted or grilled red meats. It's also suitable for a special celebration or a vertical tasting of Côte-Rôtie wines, showcasing its aging potential. 【Pure, complete, and wildly powerful Syrah from old vines in a prestigious Côte-Rôtie plot.】
