FEATURES
The 2012 Gourt de Mautens Rouge IGP Vaucluse is a Grenache-dominated blend from clay and limestone soils around Rasteau, aged for 24-36 months in foudres and demi-muids. This vintage is described as a true blockbuster, full-bodied, voluptuous, and gorgeously textured, with notions of black cherries, black currants, crushed rocks, licorice, and roasted herbs. It offers notable purity, good freshness, and ripe tannins, making it enjoyable now but also capable of aging for another 10-15 years. Some tasters have noted roasted meats, gaminess, tar, blue fruit, and prune, with complexity developing after decanting. The producer, Jérôme Bressy, is known for his biodynamic approach and low yields, aiming for a pure expression of the earth. 【A true blockbuster, capable of extended aging】. This wine was previously labeled as 'Rasteau' AOC but has been released as IGP Vaucluse since the 2010 vintage.
🍴 Food pairing suggestions include beef, lamb, game (deer, venison), mature/hard cheeses, mushrooms, and spicy food, particularly French cuisine.
🥂 This powerful and complex red wine is ideal for a sophisticated dinner party or a special occasion where a rich, age-worthy wine is desired. Its evolving complexity with decanting makes it a fascinating choice for wine enthusiasts.
