FEATURES
The 2016 Domaine Mathilde et Yves Gangloff Côte-Rôtie La Sereine Noire is a highly acclaimed Syrah from the Northern Rhône, known for its elegance and power. Reviewers describe it as lively, concentrated, and complex, with a beautiful balance. The wine displays floral notes of violets and dried rose petals, alongside a rich array of black fruits like blueberry, plum, and blackberry. Underlying notes of pencil shavings, granite, and typical Syrah spice are also present. Some tasters also find notes of sour cherries, white pepper, steely notes, cranberries, blood orange, and thyme. This vintage is considered highly complex and utterly intriguing. The vines for this cuvée are located in the Côte-Rozier and Mollard localities, on granite and schist soils, and are 100% Syrah. Winemaking involves manual harvesting, meticulous sorting, destemming, and maceration in stainless steel tanks, followed by aging in 2 to 3-year-old barrels. The 2016 vintage is noted for its freshness and silky texture. 【Highly prized and sought-after, with limited availability globally】.
Food pairing suggestions for this Côte-Rôtie include pork tenderloin with black fruit jelly. It also pairs well with beef, lamb, poultry, and game.
This wine is suitable for special dinners, celebrations, or as a contemplative wine to be savored slowly due to its aromatic complexity.
