FEATURES
The 2015 Mathilde & Yves Gangloff "La Barbarine" Côte-Rôtie is an exquisite Northern Rhône wine that, even after a decade, is showing immense potential for a long and delicious life ahead. 【Exquisite balance with perfect acidity and vivid black fruit】. The nose is highly perfumed, evoking fresh blackberry and boysenberry, pungent flowers, smoky minerals, iris flower, peony, autumn bonfire, and flint notes. On the palate, intense, palate-staining black and blue fruit and floral pastille flavors are complicated by powerful spice and mineral notes, crushed stone, and black olive tapenade, gaining strength with air. It closes on a youthfully tannic note, showing excellent delineation, strong, mineral-driven persistence, and lingering floral character. This wine is expressive, elegant, and subtly balanced, a blend of roughly 90% Syrah and the rest Viognier, aged up to 23 months in a combination of used and new French oak barrels.
Food Pairing: This rich and intense red wine would be a superb match for roasted lamb with herbs, beef bourguignon, or game dishes. For an Eastern pairing, consider Cantonese roast goose or a rich Korean galbi.
Event Suggestions: Perfect for a celebratory dinner, a special anniversary, or a sophisticated gathering of wine connoisseurs. It's also an excellent choice for cellaring to enjoy in another decade.
