🏰 The 2016 vintage for Châteauneuf-du-Pape is widely hailed as exceptional, with some critics calling it the "greatest young vintage from the Southern Rhône Valley" they've ever tasted. Chapoutier's Chateauneuf du Pape Barbe Rac 2016, made from 100% old-vine Grenache, is a testament to this, boasting huge black cherry fruit, blueberry liqueur, crushed rock, violets, and garrigue notes. The wines from this vintage are characterized by exuberant ripe fruit, harmonious tannins, and an overall impression of generosity and lushness, combined with incredible purity and balance. It's described as massive, deep, full-bodied, with a thick, unctuous texture and an impressively long, licorice-tinged finish. 【 南隆河谷最偉大的年輕年份之一 】。
🍴 This powerful and rich Châteauneuf-du-Pape pairs exquisitely with a variety of classic meat dishes, including roasted or grilled lamb, beef, duck, and game. Its complex flavors also complement hearty stews, Asian dishes, and rich fish courses like tuna, as well as mature cheeses.
🥂 An ideal wine for a grand celebration, a significant anniversary, or a luxurious dinner where a truly impressive red wine is desired. Its remarkable aging potential means it can be cellared for decades, evolving beautifully over time.
BACKGROUND
Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the most recognizable producers in the Rhône Valley. It is known for its wines from both the north and south of the valley, but in particular for its red and white Hermitage wines, made from Syrah and a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, respectively.Outside of the flagship vineyards in Hermitage, Chapoutier has vineyards across the Rhône, including plots in Côte Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Condrieu. These span both single-vineyard expressions and generic AOC-level wines. Chapoutier also makes regional Côtes du Rhône wines, and has viticultural interests in Australia (Domaine Tournon), Portugal and Alsace.
