Bernard Faurie, Hermitage Blanc, 2020
White
750ml
Label : Good Label
Level : Neck Level
Capsule : Good Capsule
The 2020 Bernard Faurie Hermitage Blanc holds a special significance as it marks Bernard Faurie's last commercial vintage before his retirement, making it a highly sought-after collector's item from this legendary Hermitage stalwart. Faurie is renowned for his traditional approach and working with old vines, some over a century old, across prestigious lieux-dits like Bessards, Greffieux, and Le Méal. His Hermitage Blanc is a minuscule production, often crafted from old Marsanne vines.
This unctuous, palate-coating Marsanne is loaded with flavours of yellow fruits, honey, white flower blossoms, and canned peaches. It presents a rich and accomplished profile, with other vintages showing complex nutty and slightly oxidative notes of almond, caramel, toffee, and baked pineapple.
🍴 The wine's fatty palate makes it an ideal pairing for rich shellfish, lobster rolls, roasted chicken, or a variety of Asian takeout favourites. Its complexity also allows it to stand up to richer fish dishes or even some lighter pork preparations.
🥂 【The 2020 vintage marks Bernard Faurie's last commercial release, making it a highly sought-after collector's item from a legendary producer.】 This rare and highly regarded white wine is perfect for a celebratory meal, a special anniversary, or a sophisticated dinner party where its unique character can be appreciated. It also possesses excellent ageing potential, making it a superb candidate for cellaring.
