The 2023 vintage for Domaine Dujac's Morey-Saint-Denis Blanc is characterized by abundant flesh and texture, following a growing season with surprisingly large clusters due to rain. Winemaker Jeremy Seysses noted rigorous sorting was necessary after an August heatwave caused some grape shriveling. This white Burgundy offers ripe orchard fruits, a generous and fleshy profile, with good proportion and energy. Aromas include pear, stone fruits, white flowers, and freshly baked bread. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, rich, and fleshy with a sweet core of fruit, leading to a lingering finish. Expect a succulent, even seductive mouthfeel with smoky notes of petrol, white orchard fruit like apple, lemon rind, and a floral top note. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate describes it as pretty and expressive, bursting with aromas of plums, orange zest, and spices, with a supple and fleshy palate that is fine-boned and immediate.
Food pairing suggestions: This versatile white Burgundy pairs beautifully with shellfish, various pasta dishes, rich fish such as salmon or tuna, mild and soft cheeses, and cured meats.
Event suggestions: This is a forward and approachable wine that drinks well young, making it perfect for immediate enjoyment at a dinner party or a relaxed gathering.
