FEATURES
The Domaine de la Grange des Pères La Grange des Peres Rouge 2004 is a full-bodied, blended red wine from the Languedoc region of south-west France, crafted by the late Laurent Vaillé, who was renowned for his meticulous winemaking. This vintage, a blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cabernet Sauvignon, has gained a cult following and is often considered the 'Rayas of Languedoc'. 【A justly-celebrated and highly sought-after red wine with significant aging potential】.
In the glass, it presents a deep ruby red with violet reflections. The nose is intensely complex, offering aromas of black fruits, spices, undergrowth, balsamic, and mineral notes. Critics have also noted a surprisingly developed nose of red raspberry, sage, mint, sealing wax, and smoked meat. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, with velvety tannins, long persistence, and great elegance. Bright raspberry fruit laced with bacon fat, candied ginger, sage, salt, and cherry pit contribute to a creamy texture. The finish is striking in its brightness and savory intensity, with notes of fresh berries, soy, smoked meat, pungent-sweet citrus rind, and herbs. This wine ages 12-18 months in oak barriques and has excellent long bottle aging potential.
For a wine of this age, careful handling is recommended. The cork may be fragile, so use a Durand or an Ah-So opener. Decanting for 1-2 hours is advisable to allow the wine to open up and shed any sediment, but monitor it closely as older wines can fade quickly once exposed to air. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F) in large red wine glasses or Burgundy glasses.
🍴 Food Pairing: This powerful red is perfect with red meats, game, aged cheeses, and mushroom dishes. Its complexity also makes it an excellent match for lamb.
🥂 Event Fit: An exceptional choice for a special occasion, a celebratory dinner, or for collectors seeking a mature, complex Languedoc gem. Its elegance and depth make it suitable for a sophisticated gathering of wine enthusiasts.
