FEATURES
Domaine de la Grange des Pères is a revered cult wine from the Languedoc, founded by the late Laurent Vaillé, known for its meticulous winemaking and exceptional quality. The 2019 vintage marks the second release under the stewardship of Laurent's brother, Bernard, who continues the legacy after Laurent's passing in 2021. This red wine is a blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Counoise, produced with very low yields. It undergoes spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and is aged for two years in 228-liter oak barrels, with 25-30% new oak.
The 2019 vintage presents a clean, fragrant, and attractive nose, layered with aromas of dark forest fruits, blueberry, leather saddle, elderflowers, violets, garrigue, dark plums, and licorice root. On the palate, it is ripe, firm, and vibrant, offering intense flavors of fresh forest fruits, bilberries, ferrous notes, garrigue, savory game, meaty umami, licorice, and a floral touch. It boasts high acidity and medium tannins, culminating in a long, juicy, and grippy finish. The wine is described as harmonious and classic, achieving a superb balance between its sunny fruit and refreshing acidity.
This rich and intense red wine is an ideal match for lamb, beef, veal, and pasta dishes.
The 2019 vintage is a nuanced wine that can be enjoyed now, but it will greatly benefit from further aging, with a recommendation to cellar it for at least 10 years. It possesses remarkable aging potential, often developing greater complexity over 10-20 years. 【Quintessential cult wine of Southern France with exceptional aging potential】
