Chateau De Pibarnon, Bandol Rouge, 1998
Red
750ml
Label : Good Label
Level : Neck Level
Capsule : Good Capsule
🏰The 1998 vintage was a lovely year for Bandol, producing a mature Provençal red wine that beautifully showcases the depth and character of this renowned Mediterranean appellation. This Chateau de Pibarnon Bandol Rouge 1998 is an 【archetypal Grand Mourvedre, powerful, classic, and timeless】. It presents a deep garnet color and, despite its age, still makes a huge impression, gradually opening up to captivate its audience. While some notes suggest tertiary aromas of cured sausage, forest floor, and even soy sauce, others affirm it has aged beautifully and is certainly not falling apart.
🍴 This mature Bandol Rouge shines alongside Mediterranean and slow-cooked dishes such as Provençal lamb shoulder, duck with olives, venison stew, or rich mushroom and truffle-based dishes. Aged hard cheeses with nutty, savory notes also make excellent pairings.
🥂 Ideal for intimate dinners, autumn and winter meals, or tastings devoted to mature wines, where its complexity can be appreciated slowly over the course of the evening.
Serving suggestion: For this mature wine, expect some natural sediment. Decant gently for 1 to 2 hours before serving to allow the sediments to settle and the complex aromas to fully unfold. Use large glasses to highlight its bouquet and texture. Be mindful of the old cork and capsule when opening.
