White
750ml
Label : Good Label
Level : Neck Level
Capsule : Good Capsule
Stéphane Bernaudeau, a highly respected winemaker who also works for Domaine Mark Angeli, owns a small two-hectare vineyard in Anjou, producing highly sought-after Chenin Blanc cuvées. His Vin de France Les Ongles 2023 is an iconic wine from his estate, crafted using biodynamic principles. The Chenin Blanc grapes are hand-harvested, and fermentation occurs naturally with indigenous yeasts. The wine then matures on its fine lees in oak barrels before being bottled unfiltered.
This 2023 vintage, though young, already shows promise. Early tasting notes suggest a very fragrant, lime-focused nose with a light straw color. Some tasters have found it to be rich, oaky, and luscious, with good freshness, hinting at further development with a few years of aging. The wine is characterized by its distinctive depth, energy, and minerality. Expect a brilliant yellow colour, with notes of white fruits and cloves, enhanced by subtle wood. The palate is incredibly rich, mineral, and saline, leading to a long finish of almonds and honey.
【Exceptional depth, energy, and minerality】
🍴 Food pairing suggestions: This versatile white wine pairs beautifully with white fish or a hearty salad. Other suggestions include green asparagus, langoustine and celery cooked in a smoked tea crust, Rillettes du Mans, or Blanquette de veau.
🥂 Event suggestions: Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party, a special celebration, or as a contemplative wine to enjoy on its own. It's also an excellent choice for those who appreciate rare and high-quality Chenin Blancs.
