The 2022 Didier Dagueneau Pouilly-Fumé Buisson Renard is a testament to the late Didier Dagueneau's pioneering spirit, showcasing a rich and opulent Sauvignon Blanc that still retains its classic flinty streak. This vintage, from a single mid-slope parcel in Saint-Andelain with a perfect balance of clay and flint (silex) soils, is known for its crisp and complex character. Oak aging has transformed this cuvée, which was historically the most mineral-driven, into a wine with delicate yet rich notes of citrus, aromatic herbs, and minerality. The wine is barrel fermented and aged mostly in neutral 450 and 600-liter barrels, adding texture without overshadowing its vibrant character. 【BWW scores this vintage 95/100】.
Food pairing suggestions: This complex white wine would be an excellent match for rich fish dishes like sandre (pike-perch) meunière or trout with brown butter. Its flinty and mineral notes also make it a superb partner for goat cheese, especially Crottin de Chavignol, or even roasted poultry with herbs.
Event suggestions: Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party, a special anniversary celebration, or as a thoughtful gift for a discerning wine connoisseur.
