FEATURES
Château Bouscassé, under the ownership of Alain Brumont, is one of the big names in Madiran, known for its commitment to expressing the terroir. The Madiran appellation, located in South West France, is characterized by its Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc grape varieties, grown on fine yellow and white clays over fissured limestone. The 1996 Château Bouscassé Madiran, a blend of Tannat, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, comes from a clay-limestone terroir and was produced using sustainable farming techniques. This wine is matured in barrels, with 50% new oak, revealing superb black fruit aromas with a gentle power. It is described as dense and complex, charming with its depth and intense aromas of black fruits, spices, and liquorice. The palate offers fullness with powerful and well-integrated tannins, leading to a long and lingering finish. 【This wine has great aging potential, staying young for a long time and evolving very slowly】.
Serving Advice for an Older Vintage (1996): At nearly three decades old, this 1996 Madiran is a testament to the region's age-worthy wines. Older bottles may have fragile corks and capsules, so exercise care when opening. It's highly advisable to stand the bottle upright for at least 24-48 hours before serving to allow any natural sediment to settle. Decanting is strongly recommended for this wine to separate sediment and allow its complex, aged aromas to fully develop and soften the powerful tannins. Serve at a cellar temperature of 17-18°C (62-64°F).
🍴 Food Pairing: This powerful yet elegant wine pairs delightfully with red meat, turkey, and duck. Its richness and integrated tannins call for equally rich food pairings, such as duck confit, braised beef, or spicy dishes like Indian or Asian cuisine.
🥂 Event Suggestions: An excellent choice for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion involving rich, hearty cuisine, or a vertical tasting with other Madiran vintages. Its robust character and aging potential make it a fascinating wine for connoisseurs.
