FEATURES
The 2005 Hubert Lamy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Clos du Meix hails from Domaine Hubert Lamy, a respected estate nestled in Saint-Aubin, a village strategically located between the renowned Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet in 布根地. Clos du Meix is a monopole vineyard of Domaine Hubert Lamy, a 0.7-hectare walled parcel planted between 1985 and 1995 on the southern side of the village. Winemaker Olivier Lamy is known for his meticulous approach, having started using larger barrels (predominantly 600l demi-muids) in 1996, with new wood usage around 30% up to 2005.
Tasting Notes: The 2005 vintage, particularly from magnum, has been described as very concentrated, with honeyed notes and good acidity, almost saline. General characteristics for this wine include notes of minerals, smoke, stone, oak, butter, vanilla, citrus, lemon, grapefruit, apricot, green apple, and yeasty undertones. It often presents an elegant profile with great depth, being soft and round.
Food Pairing: This white Burgundy pairs beautifully with dishes featuring rich sauces. It's also an excellent match for chicken and turkey.
Event Suggestions: 【A monopole vineyard offering concentrated and honeyed complexity】, this 2005 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru is ideal for a connoisseur's dinner, a special anniversary, or a sophisticated gathering where a mature, complex white Burgundy is truly appreciated.
Serving Advice: As a mature 2005 white Burgundy, this wine should be handled gently. While not extremely old, it has significant age. Decanting may be beneficial to allow it to open up and express its evolved aromas, but do so carefully and serve relatively quickly to preserve its delicate nuances. Ensure the cork is extracted with care, perhaps using a specialized opener for older bottles. Serve slightly chilled, but not too cold, to allow its complex bouquet to shine.
