The 2005 Domaine Jacques Prieur Meursault Perrières 1er Cru is a distinguished white Burgundy, known for its elegance and complexity. The Perrières vineyard is highly regarded, often considered one of Meursault's finest Premier Crus, producing wines with exceptional minerality and aging potential. 【Exceptional minerality and aging potential from a top Meursault 1er Cru site】.
Tasting notes for the 2005 vintage highlight cool, refined, and airy white flower and green fruit aromas, with surprisingly forward flavors that are delicious, complex, and intense. The wine is described as having a balanced finish that is subtly long. While wood is present, it is well-integrated, contributing to a relatively understated yet powerful effort. Meursault Perrières wines typically showcase a stony, mineral character due to the thin, stony soil of the vineyard.
Food pairing suggestions for Meursault Perrières include chicken in cream sauce, skate in browned butter, white truffle risotto, and Epoisses cheese. Its richness and acidity also make it a superb match for roasted poultry, rich seafood dishes, or creamy pasta.
This wine is ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a celebratory meal, or as a significant addition to a fine wine cellar. It's a wine that speaks of its terroir and offers a rewarding experience for those who appreciate fine white Burgundy.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jacques Prieur is a relatively large Burgundy producer that makes both Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from esteemed vineyard holdings across the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, France. The history of the domaine began in the 1860s, with the marriage of Claude Duvergey and Marie Taboureau. They first established the wine and spirits merchant business, Duvergey-Taboureau House, before buying property in Meursault – now the site of the modern Domaine Jacques Priuer.
