The 2001 Domaine des Comtes Lafon Meursault is a spectacular white Burgundy, revealing a boisterous nose of cloves, pears, spices, and white peaches. It's described as hugely expansive, powerful, chewy-textured, and supple, with a velvety palate slathered in white pepper-laced apple compote, leading to a long finish. Other notes highlight rich aromas of lemon, vanilla, and grilled nuts, alongside ripe and fresh peach notes. Domaine des Comtes Lafon is a renowned estate in Burgundy, celebrated for its exceptional Chardonnay wines, with Dominique Lafon leading the estate since the 1980s and consistently producing top-tier wines. The domain has been officially organic since 1998, emphasizing minimal intervention to let the terroir shine. 【Dominique Lafon's exceptional Chardonnay, renowned for quality, elegance, and minerality, with a focus on biodynamic practices.】
Food pairing suggestions include partridge with truffles, crustaceans, and foie gras. This rich white Burgundy also complements other creamy dishes, roasted poultry, or fine seafood preparations.
This exquisite Meursault is perfectly suited for special celebrations, elegant dinner parties, or as a sophisticated gift for a discerning wine lover. It also has excellent cellaring potential.
BACKGROUND
Domaine des Comtes Lafon is a wine producer in Burgundy, France, making some of the most lauded (and highly priced) white wines from Chardonnay in the region. The primary grape variety is Chardonnay, with a small portion being Pinot Noir. The estate is located in Meursault in the Côte de Beaune subregion, but has vineyards in three other villages: Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay and Monthélie. Comtes Lafon's house and cellar were built in 1869 by the Boch family, but its reputation as a winery was most heavily influenced by Jules Lafon, who married Marie Boch in 1894.
