Louis Carillon, Puligny Montrachet Perrieres 1er Cru, 1995
White
750ml
Label : Very Slightly Bin Stained Label
Level : Neck Level Filled
The 1995 Louis Carillon Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru 'Les Perrières' is a white Burgundy from a highly regarded former estate, known for its exceptional Chardonnay wines. This vintage is noted for its terrific balance and harmony, offering a delicate and smooth texture on a long finish. While specific vintage notes for 1995 are less abundant, the 1996 vintage, often compared, showed a steely, minerally, lime-scented nose with superb fat and richness, and a complex, honeysuckle, and grilled oak-laced nose. Expect mature aromas of white flowers and pear, underpinned by racy acidity and excellent length. 【Terrific balance and harmony】. Given its age, this 1995 Puligny-Montrachet is likely to be a beautifully evolved wine, showcasing the elegance and complexity that older white Burgundies can achieve. It's a testament to the Carillon family's winemaking prowess before the estate was split in 2010.
Serving Advice: For a wine of this age, careful handling is paramount. The cork may be fragile, so use a Durand opener or a two-pronged cork puller. Decanting is generally not recommended for older white Burgundies as it can diminish delicate aromatics; instead, open the bottle 30-60 minutes before serving and allow it to breathe gently in the bottle. Serve slightly chilled, around 12-14°C (54-57°F), to allow its complex bouquet to unfold.
🍴 Food Pairing: This elegant white Burgundy pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roasted chicken with herbs, pan-seared scallops, lobster thermidor, or creamy risottos. It also complements mature, hard cheeses.
🥂 Event Suggestions: Perfect for a sophisticated dinner party, a special anniversary celebration, or a quiet evening appreciating a mature and complex white wine. It's an excellent choice for connoisseurs looking to experience the grace of aged Puligny-Montrachet.
