🏰 The 1995 vintage in the Northern Rhone was generally good, producing wines with ripeness and structure. E. Guigal's Condrieu La Doriane 1995 is a 【benchmark for Viognier excellence】, showcasing the grape's aromatic intensity and luxurious texture. Expect a rich bouquet of apricot, peach, honeysuckle, and a touch of minerality, with a full-bodied palate and a long, perfumed finish. This wine is known for its ability to age gracefully, developing more complex nutty and honeyed notes over time.
🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing: This opulent white wine would be exquisite with Steamed Scallops with Vermicelli and Garlic (蒜蓉粉絲蒸扇貝), or a delicate Double-Boiled Chicken Soup with Fish Maw (花膠燉雞湯). For Western cuisine, consider roasted chicken with herbs, rich seafood dishes like lobster bisque, or creamy risottos.
🥂 fit for event: An ideal choice for a sophisticated dinner party, a special anniversary, or a luxurious treat for white wine connoisseurs. Serve chilled, around 10-12°C (50-54°F). While it's an older vintage, it should still be vibrant; decanting is generally not necessary for white wines of this age unless there's significant sediment, but allowing it to breathe for 15-30 minutes can enhance its aromatics.
BACKGROUND
E Guigal is one of the most famous wine producers in the Rhône. The company was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis on the west bank of the Rhone, just a stone's throw from the famous sun-baked slopes of the Côte Rôtie. Guigard's flagship wines are the famous "LaLa": La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque. La Landonne is 100% Syrah, from 40-year-old vines and aged in oak barrels for a similar amount of time.
