FEATURES
The 1995 Dominique Laurent Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is a mature red Burgundy that showcases the elegance and complexity of aged Pinot Noir. The 1995 vintage in Burgundy was generally considered good for both reds and whites, with healthy grapes harvested in smaller quantities, leading to wines with fine balance and silky tannins. This particular wine exhibits a faded rusty ruby color, with aromas of cherry, currant, tea leaf, spice, leather, dried fruit, violets, and rose petals. On the palate, it offers red fruit and cherry flavors with good acidity and a pleasant earthy 'sous bois' character. Despite its age, the wine is nicely balanced and has shown to be fresh and vibrant, with plenty of time to go. 【Highly rated by critics, with some scores reaching 94 points.】
Food Pairing: This Grand Cru Pinot Noir pairs exquisitely with complex dishes such as roast duck in gravy, chicken in red wine sauce, or roast lamb. Soft-centered cheeses also make a delicious accompaniment.
Event Suggestions: Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a special anniversary celebration, or a contemplative evening for serious wine collectors. Given its age, it's a perfect choice for a vertical tasting of Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. When serving, handle with care due to its age. Decanting for 1-2 hours is recommended to allow the wine to open up and to separate any sediment. Serve at 14-16°C (57-61°F) for optimal enjoyment.
BACKGROUND
Dominique Laurent is a highly respected micro-négociant based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Burgundy, known for sourcing exceptional old-vine fruit and his unique approach to oak aging. He crafts his own barrels from carefully selected Tronçais oak, often using 'magic casks' (double new oak) for his top crus. The Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is one of the most legendary Grand Crus in Gevrey-Chambertin, featuring complex limestone and clay soils. Laurent's interpretation of this terroir yields a Pinot Noir of immense power, depth, and exotic spice, characterized by dark fruits, velvety tannins, and extraordinary aging potential.
