Amiot Servelle, Chambolle Musigny Derriere La Grange 1er Cru, 1993
The 1993 vintage in Burgundy was challenging, with a wet spring and early July, followed by a hot, dry August and some September rains. Despite this, the reds from 1993 are considered outstanding, offering power and concentration with a firm backbone of ripe tannins, built for aging. Domaine Amiot-Servelle, a pioneer in organic farming in Chambolle-Musigny, crafts wines that are elegant, pure, and lifted. Their Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 'Derrière La Grange' is known for its deep and complex structure, revealing notes of ripe fruit, flowers, and subtle salty hints. On the palate, it offers great density and a mineral background, with a pleasantly tart finish.
【Outstanding aging potential】 for this classic vintage, making it a collector's item. This wine is still evolving and can offer a beautiful experience for those who appreciate mature Burgundy. Given its age, expect potential fragility in the cork and capsule. It's advisable to use a Durand opener or an Ah-So to minimize cork breakage. Decant gently for 30-60 minutes to allow it to open up and shed any sediment, but be mindful of older wines which can fade quickly after prolonged air exposure. Serve at cellar temperature, around 16-18°C (60-64°F).
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy pairs beautifully with classic French dishes such as roasted duck, guinea fowl, or a delicate mushroom risotto. It also complements aged hard cheeses or a simple pan-seared salmon.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a special anniversary celebration, or a quiet evening of contemplation for a true Burgundy enthusiast.
