🏰 The 1993 Louis Jadot Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru comes from a vintage for red Burgundy characterized by bright acidity and a classic, elegant structure. Chambertin-Clos de Bèze is a prestigious Grand Cru vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin, a northern commune of the Côte de Nuits. Louis Jadot is renowned for its expertise and vineyard holdings in top red Burgundy, ensuring high quality. The Pinot Noir grapes are fermented for up to four weeks and then aged 18 to 20 months in oak barrels. 【This Chambertin Clos de Bèze is described as a marvelous Gevrey Grand Cru that captivates with its elegance rather than sheer power, currently at a glorious point of absolute peak drinking】. It displays a light translucent red colour with mild fading but no browning. The nose offers smoky dark red fruit, enticing spice, and high-toned green aromas with aeration, alongside clean floral notes. On the palate, it is medium to lighter-bodied, pliant, and subtly sweet. Flavors lean towards strawberry, supported by excellent tart acidity, a hint of soil, and light green herbs, with soft, fine tannins. It is svelte and feminine, focusing on elegance, and boasts a deceptively long finish. Reviewers note dark fruit with Gevrey earthiness, wonderfully fragrant summer berries, smoky notes, and a complex balance of ripe berry fruits and structured tannins. Some bottles may still be youthful or show austerity, benefiting from further cellaring. This wine is expected to hold well for another decade or more.
🍴 This rich and sumptuous wine is an ideal match for sophisticated dishes such as meats 'en sauce', game, and strong cheeses. Consider classic French preparations like Coq au Vin or Boeuf Bourguignon, or roasted game birds.
🥂 Perfect for a special celebratory dinner or a serious tasting among connoisseurs, this wine's elegance and complexity make it suitable for contemplative enjoyment. Decanting is advised due to the potential for a crumbling cork and sediment, as noted in some reviews.
