The 1992 Domaine Leroy Richebourg Grand Cru is a testament to Lalou Bize-Leroy's visionary biodynamic approach, even in a cooler vintage. While some might find this expression more delicate than anticipated for Richebourg, it offers refined complexity and lithe balance. The nose is often described as elegant, with perfumes of red currant, sweet baking spice, and a hint of rose petal. Other notes include floral notes, candied red fruit, darker and more savory fruit, and dried herbal notes. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with bright acidity and ultra-fine, resolved tannins, delivering a polished texture and layered interplay of spice and earthy underbrush. The 1992 vintage for red Burgundy was generally challenging, with some wines being light and inconsistent, but Leroy's meticulous methods often transcend vintage difficulties. 【A benchmark for uncompromising quality and philosophical winemaking】.
Given its age, this 1992 Richebourg Grand Cru requires careful handling. Expect the cork to be fragile, and some sediment is likely. A gentle decant for 30-60 minutes before serving is advisable to allow the wine to open up and separate from any deposits, but avoid prolonged aeration. Serve at a cool cellar temperature, around 16-17°C (60-62°F).
🍴 This profound red Burgundy is an ideal partner for luxurious dishes such as roasted beef tenderloin, veal, or game (like venison or deer). Its elegance and complexity would also beautifully complement truffle-infused dishes or a rich coq au vin.
🥂 This is a wine for a truly momentous occasion, such as a significant anniversary, a high-end tasting event, or a gathering of serious Burgundy collectors. It's a wine that demands attention and offers a profound sensory experience, best savored slowly and thoughtfully.
