FEATURES
The 1989 Trimbach Riesling Clos Ste. Hune Hors Choix Vendanges Tardives is an exceptionally rare and highly acclaimed wine, considered by some to be one of the best Rieslings ever made. This particular bottling is unique as it's the only Clos Ste. Hune produced in a Vendanges Tardives (late harvest) style, a result of rampant Botrytis cinerea in the 1989 vintage. It was made from the oldest vines, harvested two weeks later than the 'regular' Clos Ste. Hune VT. Critics have awarded it perfect or near-perfect scores, praising its complexity, concentration, and incredible length.
Tasting notes reveal a wine with lemons and mandarins, wonderful balance, great concentration, and incredible length. It also offers notes of marzipan, salted caramel, spice with ginger, tangerine liqueur, candied orange peel, ripe lime, botanical herbs, and some petrol. Despite its Vendanges Tardives designation, it's not as sweet as one might expect, with a luscious burnt sugar backdrop, botrytis spice notes, and acidity that provides wonderful lightness. 【An exceptionally rare and unique late-harvest Clos Ste. Hune, a testament to the 1989 vintage's unique conditions.】
This wine is often described as the ultimate foie gras wine. It also pairs beautifully with fruit-based desserts, crème brûlée, apricots, sweet cherries, rose petals, and lychee fruit. Its complexity and balance make it suitable for a wide range of rich, savory, and sweet dishes.
This extraordinary wine is perfect for a landmark celebration, a serious wine collector's tasting, or as an unforgettable gift for a true Riesling aficionado. It's a wine that tells a story of a unique vintage and a legendary producer.
