Meo Camuzet, Nuits St. Georges Aux Boudots 1er Cru, 2021
🏰 The 2021 vintage in Burgundy was challenging but ultimately produced elegant and fresh wines, particularly for Pinot Noir, with good acidity and moderate alcohol levels. Meo Camuzet's Nuits St. Georges Aux Boudots 1er Cru is a highly sought-after wine from a prestigious producer. While specific detailed tasting notes for the 2021 vintage are still emerging, wines from Aux Boudots are typically known for their power, structure, and depth, often displaying dark fruit, earthy notes, and a firm tannic backbone that allows for excellent aging. Given the vintage characteristics, this 2021 expression is expected to be a more classic, terroir-driven Nuits-Saint-Georges, emphasizing finesse and savory complexity over overt ripeness. 【A classic, terroir-driven expression from a top Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru vineyard.】
🍴 This robust red Burgundy would be an excellent match for classic French cuisine. Consider roasted lamb with herbs, beef bourguignon, coq au vin, or mature hard cheeses like Époisses or Comté. For a Western pairing, grilled steak with a rich sauce or mushroom-based dishes would be superb. In an Eastern context, it could complement savory dishes like Peking duck or a rich, slow-cooked pork belly.
🥂 This wine is ideal for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion with discerning guests, or a vertical tasting of Meo Camuzet's Nuits-Saint-Georges. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). While young, a decant of 1-2 hours would help soften the tannins and allow its complex aromas to unfold. For older vintages, a shorter decant to remove sediment and allow gentle aeration would be appropriate.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Meo-Camuzet is located in the village of Vosne-Romanee, France. The estate employs organic fertilizers and advanced cultivation techniques to maintain ecological balance in the vineyards. Coupled with the exceptional terroir and the legacy of Henri Jayer, Jean-Nicholas' efforts have elevated the estate to a top-tier winery in just a few decades. In 2003, Jean-Nicholas founded the négociant business Méo-Camuzet Frères et Soeurs. Although the grapes are purchased, the team personally supervises the vineyards to ensure the quality of the grape sources.
