🏰 The 1995 vintage for Madiran, particularly for Alain Brumont's Château Montus Cuvée Prestige, was exceptional. Robert Parker rated it 94-96 points, calling it "unquestionably one of the great 1995s" and suggesting it could outlive top Bordeaux wines. This 100% Tannat wine, aged in new oak, is known for its formidable tannins and incredible aging potential, often requiring 15-20 years of cellaring. Tasting notes describe an opaque black colour, with a magnificent, sweet, pure nose of cassis, black plums, and subtle new oak. The palate is extraordinarily deep and full-bodied, with layers of concentrated, jammy fruit and a monster finish. It's a wine that is purely made, remarkably rich, and complete. 【"Petrus of the Southwest" by critics】.
🍴 This powerful Madiran red is an ideal match for robust, flavourful dishes. Think rib of beef, rack of lamb, duck breast, or game. Its tannins also stand up well to spicy oriental cuisine or rich mushroom-based dishes. Aged hard cheeses would also be a good pairing.
🥂 The 1995 Montus Cuvée Prestige is perfect for a special occasion that calls for a truly impressive and long-aged red wine, such as a significant birthday or anniversary. It's also an excellent choice for a serious wine tasting or a gathering of connoisseurs who appreciate powerful, age-worthy wines.
It is said that it's drink window opened only after 20 years aging, and possible to be stored for up to 50 years. The aging potential is comparable to that of Petrus. Rich black fruits and exotic floral aromas, mixed with complex spices (leather, earthy aromas), perfectly presented under the influence of French oak barrels, making it attractive.
