The 2020 Nicolas Jacob L'Etoile La-haut Chardonnay is a white wine from the Jura region of France, specifically the L'Etoile appellation. This vintage was notably challenging due to the ongoing Covid pandemic, which impacted various aspects of winemaking from picking to sales. Despite these hurdles, some regions still managed to perform admirably. This Chardonnay is sourced from the highest and rockiest part of Nicolas Jacob's vineyards, planted over marl on the slopes of L'Étoile in 1953. The grapes are directly pressed and aged in a combination of old barriques and demi-muids for two years. Reviewers describe it as lively, full of fruit, and deeply layered with beautiful complexity, showcasing notes of lemon peel, yellow fruit, salted caramel fudge, and a wild herbal side. It's also noted for its deep, big, and powerful yet elegant, sharp, and precise character, with candied lemon, stony minerality, and an energetic feel. 【A '3D' wine with intense, multilayered flavors of sweet and tart citrus fruits and bitterness, coming in waves.】
🍴 This Jura White wine pairs wonderfully with poultry, mature and hard cheeses, and mushrooms. Its buttery and complex style also makes it an excellent match for chicken and turkey.
🥂 The 2020 Nicolas Jacob L'Etoile La-haut Chardonnay is perfect for a sophisticated dinner party or a special occasion where a complex and evolving white wine is desired. It's a wine that unfurls wonderfully in the glass and will reward drinkers for many years to come.
