FEATURES
The 2021 Domaine Leflaive Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru hails from a challenging vintage in Burgundy, marked by severe April frosts and cool, rainy spring months. However, a favorable June for flowering and good conditions from mid-August for veraison ultimately led to a successful, albeit demanding, harvest. This Grand Cru is sourced from three distinct parcels, with two on the Chassagne side and one in the Puligny sector. The winemaking involves manual harvesting with meticulous grape sorting and parcel-by-parcel ripeness monitoring, followed by alcoholic fermentation in oak casks, with 25% new oak, and aging for 12 months in cask then 6 months in tank.
【A powerful and complex Grand Cru Chardonnay from a legendary Burgundy estate, requiring patience for its full expression】. Critics praise its cool and ripe aromas of green apple, acacia blossom, petrol, and airy zest-tinged nuances. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate describes it as the most sensual wine in the range, bursting with aromas of confit citrus, pear, white flowers, praline, and freshly baked bread, offering a full-bodied, satiny, layered, unctuous, and rich profile with a long, expansive finish. The palate is noted for its impressive power and intensity, leading to a gorgeously complex, sneaky long, and well-balanced finale.
Food pairing suggestions include refined dishes and complex textures such as foie gras, lobster, or golden sweetbreads served with a buttery and creamy sauce. It also pairs beautifully with chicken and turkey.
This stunning wine is ideal for grand celebrations, sophisticated dinners, or as a centerpiece for a serious wine collection. It requires patience, with a recommended drinking window from 2029-2038.
