FEATURES
Domaine de la Grange des Pères is a legendary "cult estate" in Languedoc, founded in 1989 by the late Laurent Vaillé, and now continued by his brother Bernard. Renowned for wines of rare elegance, it has become an essential benchmark in the region, famously eschewing AOC status in favor of the Vin de Pays de l'Hérault designation. The vineyard practices uncertified organic and biodynamic methods, contributing to the wine's unique character. 【A cult Languedoc wine renowned for its rare elegance, age-worthiness, and defiance of AOC status.】
The 2023 Grange des Pères Rouge displays a deep garnet hue with delicate violet highlights. The nose offers a complex and elegant bouquet of ripe black fruits like blackberry, blackcurrant, and cherry, beautifully interwoven with notes of spice, liquorice, and the distinctive scents of garrigue. On the palate, it presents fine volume and elegance, supported by silky, beautifully rounded tannins, leading to a long finish of fruit and spice. Expect dark berry, olive, black pepper, and graphite notes, with firm tannins and a savory finish.
🍴 This red wine is a superb match for Mediterranean cuisine, such as herb-roasted lamb or oven-roasted summer vegetables. It also beautifully complements grilled red meats, slow-cooked dishes in sauce, furred game, full-flavoured poultry, daube de boeuf, herb-crusted venison, wild mushroom dishes, and aged hard cheeses.
🥂 The 2023 vintage is built for ageing and can be enjoyed from 2026, developing gracefully in the cellar until around 2043. For enjoyment in its youth, serving it at 16-18°C and opening the bottle a few hours in advance, or gently decanting, will allow its best qualities to shine. This makes it an excellent choice for a future celebratory dinner or a gathering of discerning wine connoisseurs.
