FEATURES
The 2023 Domaine des Murmures Poulsard Arbois is a vibrant red wine from a small, dedicated Jura estate. Emmanuel Lancon, the winemaker, follows a natural winemaking philosophy akin to the legendary Pierre Overnoy, employing indigenous yeasts, no chaptalization, and no added sulfur, with biodynamic practices in the vineyard. As a very recent vintage, released in late 2025, it's still in its youthful prime, offering a fresh and expressive character. 【 A natural wine from a small, biodynamic Jura estate, following the philosophy of legendary Pierre Overnoy. 】
Tasting Notes: Early reviews suggest that while initially reductive, it opens up beautifully after some air. It's described as light, aerial, and delicate, with a lighter extraction, allowing the wine to "float in your mouth". Expect medium+ intensity on the nose, revealing very light red fruits like red currant, mint, pine, a hint of licorice, and laurel. The palate is balanced with fresh acidity and fine tannins, offering red and black fruit, herbs, spice, and mineral notes, leading to a long finish. Some notes also mention blackberry, grass, and earthy undertones.
Food pairing suggestions: This food-friendly Poulsard is versatile. It pairs wonderfully with game dishes such as deer or venison, various appetizers and snacks, and mushroom-based dishes. It's also an excellent match for mild and soft cheeses, as well as cured meats.
Event suggestions: Ideal for casual gatherings, light meals, or as an aperitif. Its fresh and delicate nature makes it perfect for charcuterie boards, picnics, or relaxed evenings with friends.
Serving Advice: This is a very young and fresh red wine, best enjoyed slightly chilled to highlight its vibrant fruit and delicate structure. Serve it around 14-16°C (57-60°F). While generally not requiring decanting, if it shows any initial reductive notes (as some early reviews suggest), a brief decant or vigorous swirling in the glass will help it open up.
