Timothée Stroebel's Coteaux Champenois 'Le Vin Tranquille' 2020 is a still white wine from Champagne, a region primarily known for its sparkling wines. Timothée Stroebel is a respected grower who champions sustainable farming, being one of the first to plough with horses and champion Pinot Meunier in the region. The 2020 vintage of 'Le Vin Tranquille' Blanc is available in both Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier expressions. The Pinot Meunier Blanc is a rare Blanc de Noirs style bottling crafted from organic Pinot Meunier grapes from Premier Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims. 【Timothée often states that 'La Bulle est accessoire' (the bubble is accessory), indicating his strong belief in the potential of his still wines.】 The winemaking involves gentle pressing, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in large seasoned wooden casks, and aging on fine lees without filtration or synthetic alterations. The Pinot Meunier Blanc displays a pale straw hue with a faint copper reflection, releasing aromas of yellow apple, fresh apricot, and hazelnut. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, texturally driven, balancing a vinous weight with a sharp line of alpine acidity, and clean orchard fruit flavors interweave with a smoky undercurrent from barrel contact.
🍴 This textured and layered wine is ideal for pairing with a main course. Its crispness and complexity would complement seafood, roasted chicken, or creamy risottos.
🥂 Perfect for wine enthusiasts looking to explore the lesser-known still wines of Champagne, or for a sophisticated meal where a unique and expressive white wine is desired. It's considered a 'Rare Jewel' and 'Age Worthy' by some.
