FEATURES
The 2019 Suenen 'Le Mont-Aigu' Chouilly Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne is a monumental single-vineyard grower Champagne. It's crafted by Aurélien Suenen from old vines on the chalky slopes of Chouilly, combining Grand Cru generosity with chiseled tension. The warm 2019 harvest yielded small, concentrated grapes with generous fruit character and electric acidity. Suenen vinifies in neutral oak casks with wild native yeasts and zero filtration, resulting in expansive mid-palate fruit with a laser-focused mineral backbone. This cuvée is Aurélien Suenen's most celebrated single-parcel wine, made in strictly limited quantities. 【Monumental single-vineyard grower Champagne】.
Captivating aromatics include ripe Meyer lemon, white peach, and orange blossom, with layered accents of gunflint, chalk dust, toasted hazelnut, and brioche emerging with air. The palate is dry, vinous, and densely structured with a fine bead, offering ripe citrus and orchard fruit notes grounded by intense chalk salinity through an endless, savory finish. Other notes mention lemon confit, crisp pear, peach, and almond paste, with a full-bodied and textured mouthfeel supported by a firm, mineral-driven structure. It's elegant, complex, and exceptionally age-worthy.
Recommended food pairings include pan-roasted turbot with lemon butter sauce, butter-poached lobster or king crab, roast chicken with wild mushrooms and herbs, and aged Comté or Chaource cheese. Shellfish, crab, and lobster are also suggested.
This Champagne is ideal for special celebrations, intimate gourmet dinners, or as a sophisticated aperitif. Its complexity and aging potential also make it a fantastic choice for collectors.
