FEATURES
The 2009 Clos des Fées Côtes du Roussillon Villages La Petite Sibérie is a powerful and impressive red wine, often described as a force of nature. This cuvée is sourced from a unique 1.16-hectare plot of old Grenache Noir vines, grown in extreme conditions on a clay-limestone base with schist and high iron content, exposed to icy winds for over 200 days a year—hence its name, 'Little Siberia'. The wine is a blend, typically featuring Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and sometimes Carignan. It boasts an opaque purple color and an intense fruity aroma filled with notes of raspberry, chocolate, and coffee. On the palate, it's full-bodied, rich, and powerful, with velvety tannins and an incredibly long finish, showcasing blackberry, black cherry, plum, pepper, licorice, and garrigue herbs. The 2009 vintage has an aging potential of up to 30 years, with maturity typically reached around 10 years. It's recommended to decant this wine for at least a couple of hours to allow its complex aromas and flavors to fully unfold. Given its age, handle with care, as older corks can be fragile.

Food pairing suggestions: This robust wine demands equally rich dishes. Think roasted lamb, beef stew, game meats, or strong, aged cheeses. Its peppery and spicy notes would also complement Mediterranean-style meat dishes.
Event suggestions: An exceptional choice for a celebratory dinner, a special anniversary, or a serious wine tasting among connoisseurs. It's a wine that commands attention and is best enjoyed when you have time to savor its evolution in the glass. Given its age and complexity, it's also a fantastic wine for a vertical tasting of 'La Petite Sibérie' vintages.
