Domaine Drouhin, Cote De Beaune Villages Rouge, 2006
The 2006 Domaine Drouhin Côte de Beaune Villages Rouge is a classic Old World Pinot Noir, offering a lovely expression of Burgundian terroir. The 2006 vintage in Burgundy saw a mix of hot and cold weather, with the Côte de Beaune reds being closer in quality to 2004 than 2005, though a good domaine would still produce a good wine through careful sorting and technique. Joseph Drouhin carefully selects grapes from various villages in the Côte de Beaune for this blend. This wine presents a nice purple color with delicate red fruit aromas on the nose, such as cherry, strawberry, and raspberry, complemented by earthy notes and a hint of smoky tobacco. On the palate, it is described as having a polished texture with mild, supple tannins and a generous length. 【Classic Burgundian elegance and terroir expression】. It can be enjoyed young, after about two years of age, but also has an aging potential of up to 7 years. Given its age, it's advisable to check the cork carefully and decant for 30-60 minutes to allow any sediment to settle and the wine to open up. Serve at 16°C (61-62°F). This wine is a versatile choice for various events, from a sophisticated dinner party to a casual gathering with friends, especially for those who appreciate traditional Burgundy. It pairs wonderfully with roasted poultry, grilled meats, and soft cheeses like Reblochon or Brie. It also complements beef, veal, and game dishes.
