The 2015 Didier Dagueneau Pouilly Fumé Buisson Renard is a white wine from the Loire Valley, France, crafted from Sauvignon Blanc grapes. This cuvée is a plot-based selection from vines grown in flint soil, known for its intense minerality, freshness, and great energy. The 2015 vintage was rated 94 Falstaff points by Peter Moser in 2019. Tasting notes describe it as pale yellow-green with silver reflections, offering candied grapefruit zest, dried herbs, a smoky nutty touch, dark minerality, and fine yellow tropical fruit. It is elegant with fine yellow peach fruit, subtle extract sweetness, complex, and long-lasting, with liquid rock nuances and fine floral honey on the finish. The wine will benefit from a few more years of bottle aging. Historically, the vineyard was called Buisson Menard, but Didier Dagueneau renamed it "Buisson Renard" (fox in French) after a wine critic mistakenly used the name.
【Superb wine characterized by intense minerality and a true expression of its flint-based terroir】
Serving advice: This wine is currently in its decline phase (2025-2029+), having reached its peak between 2021-2024. For wines of this age, careful handling is recommended. Consider decanting for 30-60 minutes to allow it to open up and shed any potential sediment, but be mindful of its age and fragility. Ensure the cork is extracted gently. Serve at a cool cellar temperature, around 10-12°C.
Food pairing suggestions: This wine pairs well with vegetarian dishes, spicy food, and goat's milk cheese. Its complex profile would also complement rich seafood dishes or poultry with creamy sauces.
Event suggestions: An excellent choice for a special anniversary dinner, a sophisticated tasting event, or a thoughtful gift for a collector of fine, aged Sauvignon Blanc.
