FEATURES
The 2022 German vintage benefited from an unprecedently warm summer, with searing temperatures and drought. Producers managed these conditions with irrigation and careful canopy management. Welcome rains in September, combined with the summer heat keeping rot and disease at bay, resulted in exceptionally clean fruit and a successful harvest with ripe, healthy yields. The fruit was small and intensely concentrated, with strong aromatics. While white varieties might not have the razor-sharp acidity of cooler years, they offer a very rich fruit profile. Keller's 2022 whites, in particular, show unbelievable freshness and verve. A cool September arrived just in time to preserve the freshness that was initially threatened by the heat.
The 2022 Keller Dalsheimer Hubacker Riesling Grosses Gewachs presents a very clear and reductive, dense, aromatic, and slightly salty nose, combining fresh pineapple, delicate citrus fruit, and fine herbal aromas. The palate is juicy and intense yet fine and elegant, with delicate salinity and a fine tannin structure, leading to good length. It's considered one of Keller's finest Hubackers of the last 20 years, requiring time to develop. Critics also note a cool, bright, brilliantly clear, and fine, light citrus-peach nose with very fine herbal-vegetable and floral nuances, and a hint of dark berries. The palate offers clear, polished, bright fruit, lively acidity, some grip, and mineral notes, with a very long, precise, and classy finish.
🍴 Food Pairing: This Riesling pairs well with root vegetables and squashes. It would also be excellent with rich seafood, roasted poultry, or even some subtly spiced Asian cuisine.
🥂 Fit for Event: This wine is still very young and needs time to develop, with critics suggesting a drinking window from 2025-2039 or even 2032-2075. It is ideal for collectors or those seeking a long-term investment, perfect for a sophisticated tasting or a special dinner where a powerful, age-worthy white wine is desired. 【Germany's most coveted dry Riesling.】
