The 2014 Henri Boillot Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles is a highly regarded white Burgundy, praised for its precision and complexity. The 2014 vintage in Burgundy, despite a difficult start, managed to produce good wines, with a mild and dry spring leading to early budburst and flowering. This wine, made from Chardonnay, is known for its elegant and complex taste, reflecting the brown limestone and occasional limestone clay soils of Puligny-Montrachet.
Tasting notes reveal a bright, pale lemon-yellow hue. The aromas are very expressive, offering lemon oil, white flowers, hazelnut, and nutty oak, an essence of white Burgundy. On the palate, it is densely packed and precise, with a terrific cut and noteworthy pliancy of texture, wonderfully balanced and long. It presents a characteristic Puligny acidic backbone framing citrus and white orchard fruits, with hints of green apple and pear, crushed limestone, and acacia blossom.
Food pairing suggestions include chicken and turkey. Its rich and relatively full-bodied flavors, combined with a refined mouthfeel and complex finish, make it suitable for sophisticated poultry dishes or creamy seafood preparations.
【Highly praised by critics with 94/100 points from 2 critic reviews】. This wine is ideal for celebratory dinners, special occasions, or as a thoughtful gift for a white Burgundy enthusiast. It's also perfect for a refined meal focusing on classic French cuisine.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Henri Boillot is a wine producer based in Meursault, France, is renowned for its red and white wines from Côtes de Beaune appellations. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the primary grape varieties featured. The estate was named Domaine Jean Boillot until 2005, but was changed when Henri Boillot bought out his siblings in order to distinguish it from his brother's new Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot. Henri had previously set up Maison Henri Boillot for négociant wines and retains these labels to distinguish them from estate wines.
