Henri Giraud, Blanc De Blancs Ay Grand Cru Champagne, 2013
The 2013 Henri Giraud Blanc de Blancs Ay Grand Cru Champagne is a testament to a challenging yet ultimately rewarding vintage in Champagne. Despite a cold and wet winter and spring that delayed budburst and flowering, the region produced good quality wines. Henri Giraud, a historic family-owned Champagne House since 1625, is renowned for its intense style, often fermenting in special Argonne oak barrels. This particular Blanc de Blancs is crafted from 100% Chardonnay from a single parcel in Ay. 【 Only 2,000 bottles produced, highlighting its rarity and exclusivity. 】
Tasting Notes: This Champagne offers gorgeous notes of hazelnuts, apricots, salted almonds, lemons, and pistachio shells. It presents a medium to full body with opulence yet maintains elegance, characterized by silky bubbles and a saline, gourmand finish. Expect nutty and light French-butter notes to come through. James Suckling rated it 95 points in June 2022, advising to drink or hold.
Food Pairing: This exquisite Champagne pairs beautifully with shellfish, crab, and lobster. Its complexity and richness also make it suitable for rich fish like salmon or tuna, and mild, soft cheeses.
Event Suggestions: This rare and elegant Champagne is perfect for significant celebrations, intimate gourmet dinners, or as a sophisticated gift for a connoisseur. Its limited production makes it a truly special addition to any event.
