FEATURES
The 2017 Henri Bonneau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve des Célestins is a highly acclaimed red wine from the Southern Rhône. The 2017 vintage in the Rhône Valley was generally very good, with a mild winter and warm weather leading to an early flowering and growing season. This wine is considered by many to be the single greatest wine made in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It is predominantly Grenache, making up about 90% of the blend, with small amounts of Mourvèdre, Counoise, and Vaccarèse. Henri Bonneau, a 12th-generation wine grower, believed Syrah was not suited for Châteauneuf-du-Pape and preferred vines between 30 to 50 years old.
Tasting notes reveal a very intense nose with aromas of cherry, blood orange, grapefruit, faded rose petals, violet, and leather. On the palate, it is fresh and concentrated, with powerful tannins that are already well-integrated, supported by beautiful acidity, leading to an incalculably long and smoky finish. Other descriptors include black and red fruits, blueberries, licorice, pepper, cinnamon, and notes of oak and tobacco. 【Unequivocally the single greatest wine made in Châteauneuf du Pape today.】
🍴 Food Pairing: This rich and intense red wine pairs exceptionally well with lamb. Its complexity and structure also make it suitable for other robust dishes like beef stew, venison, or strong, aged cheeses.
🥂 Fit for Event: This is a wine for special occasions and celebratory dinners, particularly those involving connoisseurs or collectors. Its depth and aging potential make it a perfect choice for a significant anniversary, a milestone birthday, or an intimate gathering where the wine itself is a focal point of the experience.
