The 2012 Antinori Tignanello vintage is marked by Tuscany's erratic weather patterns, which paradoxically imbued the wine with a rich depth. The growing season saw a hot summer followed by a cool harvest, resulting in a wine with more spice and Mediterranean herb notes. Grapes were harvested in late September, yielding slightly less alcohol than previous vintages. This vintage is celebrated for its exceptional character and profound complexity. 【A milestone wine, being the first Sangiovese aged in barriques and a pioneer in blending with Cabernet】.
This Tignanello presents an intense ruby red color with purple highlights. The nose is potent and complex, offering spicy notes intertwined with aromas of red fruit like cherries and plums, smoke, balsamic sensations, licorice, and rosemary. On the palate, it is mouth-filling and elegant with significant volume and excellent textural balance, where the oak is perfectly integrated into a spicy and fruity finish. Further notes include blackcurrants and blueberries with hints of lavender and violets. It is full-bodied with chewy, polished tannins, bright acidity, and prominent fruit intensity.
Food pairing suggestions: A fantastic companion to a wide range of dishes. It pairs exceptionally well with rich Italian cuisine, grilled red meats, aged cheeses, and hearty stews.
Event suggestions: Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party, a special occasion meal, or as a thoughtful gift for a wine connoisseur. Its aging potential also makes it suitable for cellaring to enjoy its evolution over time.
